I chose the Sanskrit word “Asmi,” which means “I Am,” for my collection of numerology-inspired, personalized necklaces because, for me, each necklace is a unique symbol that celebrates each person’s individuality, purpose and strength.

I love numerology and with this collection I sought to create everyday talismans that will inspire confidence, motivate and bring joy to the wearer.  I wear mine (Number 1) almost every day and find that in moments of doubt or despair or when I feel downtrodden, I rub my thumb over my disk a few times and remember my strengths and my path and somehow muster up the courage and the energy to move forward.  This is the message and spirit of the Asmi collection that I wish to share with everyone.

I really love numerology and that’s what inspires this collection.  Every necklace represents one of eleven different lifepath numbers with a fine silver disk that’s enameled with one of my original flower motifs; the number of petals on the flower symbolizes your lifepath number.  The necklace is completed with your birthstone set into pure 24k kundan gold.

According to numerology, your lifepath number is derived from your full date of birth and is one of the most important numbers in your numerological chart.  (You can calculate your lifepath number using the calculator on my site).  The best way for me to explain it, is that it can be compared to the colors on a painter’s palette — your lifepath number determines which colors will be on your palette but how you paint your canvas with those colors is up to you!

This collection had really been in the making for many, many years before it finally took shape and form in its current manifestation.

It started with my interest in numerology that first took hold during my teenage years.  I’d had an interest in palmistry and astrology as well and in studying these subjects, I came upon numerology.   I found the pursuit of meaning, of discovering symbols and signs in that which may not be apparent truly fascinating and comforting.  When I felt lost, I looked to the patterns in numbers to give me some insight and perhaps a bit of encouragement and maybe even some guidance to gently push me towards the right direction.  I experimented with my new found knowledge on family and friends; I got to test what I’d learned and my test subjects enjoyed the experience.

I’d found that people really enjoyed learning about their numbers and their meaning as it related to their lives and I began to think about how I could incorporate my love for numerology and jewelry together.

I started to think of many different ideas and began sketching and writing down my thoughts.  I thought about how I could represent each number in jewelry, and finally, after many versions and trials, came up with my original flower motifs where the number of petals on each flower would represent a lifepath number.

Getting the design finalized for Number 22 was the most difficult and challenging as I only had the limited surface of the 12mm disk to create a 22-petaled flower!  Also, Number 1 and Number 2 went through quite a few revisions until I came up with the versions I have now.

I debuted the collection at a small holiday bazaar at a school in Montclair, NJ.  I was thrilled with the response that I got!  People really responded to the designs and and enjoyed learning about their numbers. For me, it’s always a joy to speak to people and talk about their lifepath numbers.  When I do events, the reaction is almost always positive — the meaning of the numbers resonates with people.

You can read about the meaning of your number by clicking on the image of your number here or if you don’t already know your number, you can calculate it here.

Ok, just a bit of a disclaimer here:  I am not a numerologist (if you hadn’t already guessed)!  I wouldn’t even call myself an amateur numerologist.  But I am a numerology enthusiast and that’s where all this comes from and I’m really excited about sharing it with all of you!

Stay tuned and thanks for reading!
